In the late 1960s, on PBS, “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood,” an educational children’s television series, aired on every American’s small TV. The show brought inspiration and kindness to the world, while teaching kids the importance of expressing compassion and instilling in them principle values.

Recently, the first trailer launched for “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood,” a new film starring award-winning actor and filmmaker Tom Hanks as Mr. Rogers, and Matthew Rhys (mostly known for The Americans/thriller series) as Lloyd Vogel, a magazine journalist who was tasked with writing a profile piece on Mr. Rogers.

The film was directed by Indie filmmaker Marielle Heller, this would be her first major studio feature film. It was written by Micah Fitzerman-Blue and Noah Harpster, according to the New York Post.

This story is based on a true story of a real-life friendship between Fred Rogers and journalist Lloyd Vogel, and how knowing Mr. Rogers was a very enriching and positive experience, according to IMDb.

But that is not all… As the trailer rolled, there was an interesting quote featured on the screen, “To Inspire a World of Kindness.”

Through this film and the real life show itself, Mr. Rogers’ positive demeanor did in fact make a huge difference in kids’ lives as they tuned to watch his show. One example of this is when Vogel’s wife, in the film trailer said, “please don’t ruin my childhood.”

Additionally, last year, an acclaimed documentary was released solely inspired by the life and legacy of Mr. Rogers, called “Won’t You be My Neighbor,” making this the first film and the new feature film coming out this year the second being featured on the big screen, according to the Post.

Moreover, this inspiring film will hit theaters on November 22, marking it as a beacon of thankfulness and compassion.
