MTV is back at it again…literally. With the successful return of one of their widely known series Jersey Shore, the recent revival of The Hills on their network and The Real Word being back on Facebook Watch, it only seems like they found their trend.

This time, MTV is restarting a previously successful collaboration with Sean John Combs, or as most people know him by either Puff Daddy, P. Diddy, Puffy or Diddy. The series goes by the name of Making the Band, which originally premiered on MTV in 2002, the same year Diddy joined, and produced talents like O-Town and Danity Kane.

Diddy seemed to be thrilled by the news as he put out a statement saying “MTB on MTV was the pioneer of reality TV. We’re going to bring that supernatural energy back to the format and bring the world its next global superstars.”

Later, he also thanked Wale and Seth Rogen for their apparent contribution that led to his ultimate decision of bringing the show back. Seemingly, it all began when Wale responded to a Tweet, in which he added Diddy, asking for the series to be added to the streaming platforms Netflix or Hulu, and this was followed by Seth Rogen agreeing to the idea set forth.

To their surprise, Diddy’s reply was “MTV called me about bringing it back, should I?” and this was followed by an eager Seth replying, “DO IT PLEASE!!!” Then, in mid-July, Diddy posted on his Twitter, “I’ve made my decision… #MakingTheBand is coming back!!! This will be a global talent search, upload your auditions now using #MTBcasting!!”

So according to Diddy, anyone can audition for an opportunity to be cast for the series by uploading an audition video, presumably showing off your musical skills, on any major social media platform like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter using the hashtag #MTBCasting. The whole process will be assisted by Smule, a music performance app.

The series is set to return to MTV in 2020 reporting on the real life journey of talented performers and their drama as they try to work together and top the charts, and as Diddy said, “Making the Band is coming back bigger, bolder and more cutting edge.”
