Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rep. Rashida Tlaib, Rep. Ayanna Presley, and Rep. Ilhan Omar together make “The Squad,” and have recently been in a Twitter exchange with President Trump after the four newbie lawmakers in the previous month, voted against the $4.6 billion emergency spending bill for the border.
President Trump stated via Twitter, “So interesting to see ’Progressive’ Democrat Congresswomen, who originally came from countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe, the worst, most corrupt and inept anywhere in the world (if they even have a functioning government at all), now loudly and viciously telling the people of the United States, the greatest and most powerful Nation on earth, how our government is to be run, Why don’t they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came. Then come back and show us how it is done,” he continued. “These places need your help badly, you can’t leave fast enough. I’m sure that Nancy Pelosi would be very happy to quickly work out free travel arrangements! ”
The president, however, was not informed by his team that out of the four “Squad” members, only one (Rep. Ilhan Omar) is foreign born, while the other three Representatives were born in different locations throughout the United States (Bronx, Detroit and Cincinnati).
Many will have an opinion on the matter, some choosing to criticize the President as a “Twitter Rant” while others not only agree with what he said, but express it is the right of any American to free speech. When Trump was recently asked who he was referring to in the tweets, he responded, “I don’t, I don’t.”
