How young is too young to be on the cover of a magazine?
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s daughter, North, had her first solo cover for WWD’s Beauty Inc issue, according to E! News.
E! tracks the proud mom’s expression of glee over the photoshoot via Twitter: “I’m seriously so proud of my Northie! She picked her looks and eyeliner color and is so involved and loves fashion & beauty so much so she has the best time at her @wwd shoot! Kanye & I always say she’s Kristen Crawley’s style twin.”
The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star doesn’t end her joyful approval there: “My most stylish and beautiful baby girl North shot her 1st cover for @wwd !!!!” she tweets again, as well as, “She loves fashion & beauty and has so much fun doing this!”
So, Kim is clearly stoked on her daughter being on the cover of a magazine for the world to see (to say the least), but how appropriate is the exploitation of a five-year-old child? One of the photos featured shows little “Northie” in a small purple t-shirt that’s cropped well above her bellybutton with a pairing of bright pink eye makeup. Not a look that one might expect for a kindergartener to be sporting. Hmmm.
WWD writes regarding the fashion statement, “We’ve watched North West grow on Instagram and ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians’ and magazines — here, she poses for her first solo cover. Her distinct fashion sense belies her age, and lately, so does her eye for makeup.”
People magazine informs that this isn’t the five-year-old fashionista’s first time experiencing the world of fashion: “North stomped the catwalk for the first time two months later, in September 2018, appearing as Thrilla during the L.O.L. Surprise Fashion Show in Pacific Palisades, California.”
I guess this means that fashion knows no age limits.
