President Trump gave his speech border wall speech in El Paso, Texas and it was riddled with touchy material.

AJC provided the full transcript of President Donald Trump’s speech via their website.

The president opens with the subject that causes our entire nation to groan in unison: “Tonight, I am speaking to you because there is a growing humanitarian and security crisis at our southern border.” Here we go again. I feel like every American goes to bed at night with the words “border wall.”

President Trump immediately makes it a point that “those hardest hit” are “African-Americans and Hispanic Americans.”

Right after breathing his last breath of this line, the President hurls this out, “Our southern border is a pipeline for vast quantities of illegal drugs, including meth, heroin, cocaine and fentanyl. Every week 300 of our citizens are killed by heroin alone, 90 percent of which floods across from our southern border. More Americans will die from drugs this year than were killed in the entire Vietnam War.”

Was there a point to be made in the organization of the way the topics of this speech had been presented? One can’t help but wonder how the Democratic party would have absorbed this information had it been presented by a Democratic leader.

Hmmm.

And yes, of course, the topic that’s shook our nation and wreaked havoc on Americans, the cost to build the wall, was spotlighted as well. Trump says, “law enforcement professionals have requested $5.7 billion for a physical barrier,” (ouch) and the border will allegedly “very quickly pay for itself” with a comparison of the cost of illegal drugs. “The cost of illegal drugs exceeds $500 billion a year. Vastly more than the $5.7 billion we have requested from Congress,” the President proclaimed.

Trump drove home his reasons for the wall addressing several violent victim stories involving illegal aliens and tried to make us reach for our tissues with “Over the last several years, I have met with dozens of families whose loved ones were stolen by illegal immigration. I’ve held the hands of the weeping mothers and embraced the grief-stricken fathers. So sad. So terrible.”

The pain of the families that have been affected is real and nothing to be made light of. But, a nine-figure dollar amount to foot the bill for a border is rocking America. The government shutdown alone cost $11 billion, $3 billion of which will never be seen again.

Our nation is still feeling the repercussions of the wall. Did we forget about the federal workers who were magically one day refused a paycheck? Some private sector entities even lost their business.

It can’t be said that if a Democratic leader was preaching the song of unity with the use of an appeal to sympathy to fellow democrats, that an agreeance would be drawn between democrats; that would mean justifying billions of dollars for a border that isn’t a guaranteed solution to America’s drug crimes and illegal immigrant invasion to the song of billions of dollars.
