Winter can be downright miserable when you are someone who enters hibernation as soon as temperatures drop below 50 degrees.

If you live in the Midwest, you’ve recently experienced a record-setting “Arctic blast.” If you live in the Northeast, you deal with snow and freezing temperatures annually.

However, if you live in Southern California, Florida, Georgia, Arizona or almost any southern state, you don’t have to deal with these chills – you get sunshine and temperatures that may range from the 50s to the 70s almost every day. Perhaps it’s time to make like a bird and fly south.

If you are not into skiing and making snow angels, pack your bikini, speedo or birthday suit and head to a beach resort.

ABC News compiled a list of ten luxurious beach hotels/resorts from around the world to visit during the winter:

If you don’t feel like traveling abroad, Faena Hotel Miami Beach in Florida and The Cloister at Sea Island in Georgia – both five-star hotels – are worth checking out.

The Faena Hotel Miami Beach (opened in 2016) offers more of a romantic setting. It scored a 4.5 pearl rating on Oyster.com, while The Cloister at Sea Island (opened in 1928) received 5 pearls. Into history or have youngsters? The Cloister at Sea Island is a better option.

Feel like having a fiesta? The Hotel Xcaret Mexico, Le Blanc Spa Resort in Cancun, and One & Only Palmilla in Los Cabos should be on your list. They scored four, five, and five oyster pearls respectively.

The Hotel Xcaret Mexico and Le Blanc Spa Resort are both all-inclusive resorts. Le Blanc is an adults-only escape, so no mini-me’s allowed.

What about an exotic paradise? Arenas del Mar Beachfront & Rainforest Resort in Costa Rica and GoldenEye in Jamaica sound like tropical bliss.

The Arenas del Mar Beachfront & Rainforest Resort, a four-pearl hotel, is an eco-friendly paradise surrounded by wildlife. GoldenEye, a 4.5-pearl, is Jamaica’s most historic resort.  It’s where author Ian Flemming wrote his James Bond novels, according to ABC News.

Not exotic enough? The Maldives has become a tourism hot spot, and Kandolhu Maldives scored a five-pearl rating. It’s an all-inclusive resort on its own island and is regarded as one of the best all-inclusive resorts in Asia and one of the best boutique all-inclusive resorts in the world, making the high price tag understandable.

The Racha in Thailand is an eco-chic resort that is a 35-minute boat ride from Phuket, Thailand. The resort offers ATV rides, tennis, water activities, etc. Unfortunately, the resort gets a lot of day-tourists, so privacy should not be a priority.

Lastly, the Qualia Resort in Queensland, Australia, is the perfect romantic getaway. It offers numerous activities and outdoor excursions, such as free yoga and snorkeling and diving in the Great Barrier Reef.

I can already smell the ocean air and hear the waves crashing – sigh. Read more about it om ABC News here.
