Another new year, another new set of resolutions. Researchers are saying that only 8% of people who make New Year’s resolutions stay true to seeing them through.

It’s that time again, when the world turns another year older and we turn to a fresh page to begin making another list of resolutions that we’re determined to achieve. But, how many of us really stick to our goals for the new year?

To make New Year’s resolutions is a time-honored tradition across the globe, however, according to research, only 60% of people admit to making New Year’s resolutions and only a mere 8% of people are successful in achieving them, according to Inc.

Resolution Lowdown; Did you know:

  • Saving money is one of the top five New Year’s resolutions and is in the top five categories for most commonly failed? To save or not to save, that is the question…
  • More than 50% of people admit to failing their resolution before January 31. Better luck next year!
  • Women’s resolutions are essentially centered around health and men’s resolutions most commonly revolve around a new career choice or lowered rates of alcohol consumption. Maybe men really are from mars and women are from Venus.

Wondering if your resolutions are unique or mainstream? Here is a list of the Top 10 New Year’s resolutions and their percentages according to a survey of 2,000 people:

  1. Diet or eat healthier (71 percent)
  2. Exercise more (65 percent)
  3. Lose weight (54 percent)
  4. Save more and spend less (32 percent)
  5. Learn a new skill or hobby (26 percent)
  6. Quit smoking (21 percent)
  7. Read more (17 percent)
  8. Find another job (16 percent)
  9. Drink less alcohol (15 percent)
  10. Spend more time with family and friends (13 percent)
