Is Colton Underwood hiding something? If so, what could it be?
Underwood has deleted all of his tweets. According to Cosmopolitan, someone in public relations most likely advised him to delete the tweets in order to avoid further drama. His messy breakup with Tia Booth and negative tweets from one of the current contestants have made for some worrying drama, and “The Bachelor” has hardly even started. After deleting his tweets, Underwood posted a single peace sign emoji as his goodbye.
Per Cosmopolitan, contestant Tracy Shapoff allegedly posted fat-shaming tweets and used the R-word back in 2010. Some of the more extreme examples include “Wish these fat old women on the treadmill would shut the hell up stop dancing and just workout” and “Liposuction is r*****… stop wasting your money and just get your fat ass to the gym.” When Underwood was asked about Shapoff’s shocking tweets, he told US Weekly that he didn’t “believe in whatever Tracy liked and tweeted at the time. [But] I think that’s a growing thing.” Tracy Shapoff has since deleted and apologized for the malicious words, but Underwood’s quick dismissal of her hurtful comments raises concerns about his own deleted tweets.
Season 23 of “The Bachelor” is already under a lot of scrutiny as this will be Underwood’s third time starring in a Bachelor television show. His last appearance on “Bachelor in Paradise” ended in his very public breakup with Tia Booth. As a former professional football player, Underwood is used to the limelight, and now, “The Bachelor” has highlighted his virginity by putting the phrase “What does he have to lose?” on all the publicity posters.
When asked about the drama, “The Bachelor” show host Chris Harrison told the Hollywood Reporter, “We’re evolving and changing and doing the best you can, but at the end of the day, there’s stuff that’s going to come up and there’s stuff that’s going to happen.”
With all the celebrities’ past social media mistakes coming back to haunt them, is it any surprise that they are being cautious? Deleting the tweets could just be a form of protection, and perhaps the Underwood who wrote those tweets is not the same man today. Fans can’t help but wonder who that old Colton Underwood may have been. Were there too many regrettable tweets that he had to delete them all? Read the full story from Cosmopolitan here.
