Apple, one of the biggest companies in the world, is planning to open offices across the United States and provide thousands of job opportunities.

According to Fox 5, Apple’s biggest plan for expansion will be a $1 billion campus in Austin, Texas. The 133-acre space is less than a mile from its existing office and will initially produce 5,000 jobs with the potential to add 10,000 more. The campus even includes 50 acres of open space and will run entirely on renewable energy. Not looking to move to Austin? No worries! Over the next three years, Apple is also opening new offices in Seattle, San Diego and Los Angeles. They also want to create hundreds of more jobs in Pittsburgh, New York, Boston and Portland.

Apple has a new goal of creating 20,000 jobs in the United States. While this seems like a dream come true, Apple may have some ulterior motives. Fox 5 reports that the expansion plans were announced after “new U.S. tax laws prevented Apple from avoiding taxes on international profits.” CNN states that multinational companies will have to pay hundreds of billions in tax for the profits they have made overseas in the last 30 years. Shortly after the tax laws were enacted, Apple released their plan to invest $30 billion in U.S. facilities and create “20,000 American jobs by 2023.”

Regardless of Apple’s reasoning, the United States could use 20,000 new job opportunities. Pretty soon we’re all going to be working for Apple. Read the full story from Fox 5 here.
