It’s not easy being royalty, and Meghan Markle is finding that out the hard way. According to Cosmopolitan, all of Meghan Markle’s ideas for change have been rejected–and she’s irked.

Sure, royalty means luxury and status, but it’s a completely different lifestyle. Life as a royal includes following strict protocol and having your every move monitored by palace courtiers, reporters and the public. Apparently, Meghan is becoming frustrated with being told “no.”

A source told People, “The palace is a magical place, and it is also a place where all you hear is ‘no, no, no.’ The most difficult job in the royal family is to work with Meghan’s ambitions and make them realizable. She will get frustrated if she is told ‘You can’t do this or can’t do that.’”

Per Cosmopolitan, some of the royal protocols include no shellfish, no heirs traveling together, no brides speaking at their wedding receptions, no running for office or voting, no getting involved in politics and no colored nail polish. However, Prince Harry and Meghan aren’t the usual royal couple and have broken a few of these rules already–Meghan wore burgundy nail polish at the British Fashion Awards and is a well-known vocal feminist.

Meghan still needs to announce her royal patronages, but she wants to accomplish tangible change in the world (which is hard to do when you’re not allowed to express your opinions publicly).

Do you think she’ll convince the palace to change their ways, or will she have to change hers? Read the full story from Cosmopolitan here.
