Calling all fast-food junkies! In a recent attempt to be…funny, Burger King announced they were offering $.01 Whoppers to customers who place a mobile order at any McDonald’s location for a limited time, until December 12. That’s right, to get the deal, you had to order your Whopper on Burger King’s mobile app from the location of their competitor, McDonald’s.

The promotion worked by “geofencing McDonald’s locations across the country,” Burger King said in a statement. “If a guest is inside one of these geofenced areas and has the new BK app on their device, the app will unlock the WHOPPER sandwich for a penny promotion.”

After the order was placed, the user was “detoured” away from McDonald’s and the app then navigated them to the nearest Burger King to pick up the burger.

One thing is certain, Burger King definitely has a good sense of humor.

“Don’t miss out on your chance to order the first Whopper sandwich ever available only ‘at’ McDonald’s,” Burger King said.

We don’t know about you, but this feud is making us LOL.

The Whopper for a penny promotion ended on Dec. 12, but the laughs it gave us will live on forever…

Which is the better burger anyway? Read more about this on USA Today here.
