Anna Wintour, Conde Nast’s “biggest star” might be heading for the exit.

The publishing giant recently revealed that Bob Sauerberg, Conde Nast’s chief executive for the past eight years is stepping down. With that being said, Wintour’s position in the company is said to look…uncertain.

“The reality is that the company is at a crossroads,” a source told NY Post. “Whether or not she plays a part in that is being decided now.”

When asked about Wintour’s position as artistic director and editor-in-chief of Vogue, Steven Newhouse, the co-chairman and president of Advance digital operations, told the Post that it’s in the hands of the new CEO.

“As to any changes, we’re going to wait until a new CEO is hired,” Newhouse said.

Newhouse did express that the company would prefer to keep her on the journey. “I spoke with Anna and she feels very strongly that is the right move,” Newhouse explained, referring to the new direction the company is taking. “Conde Nast wants her to remain and so far as I know she wants to remain.”

Speculation of Wintour’s possible exit sparked as a result of her recent track record. Recently, Wintour has chosen to stop Glamour’s print edition, a longtime “cash cow” for Conde Nast, according to NY Post. She made the decision to scrap Glamour’s print edition after handpicking Samantha Barry, a social media guru from CNN, to be its new editor-in-chief. Since Barry’s arrival, Glamour lost 21 percent of its traffic, according to comScore.

If Wintour does get let go, do you think Vogue will be the same without her? Read more about this story on NY Post here.
