For some, the new blood-red Christmas trees lining a hallway in the White House generate a sense of foreboding. Were these trees taken from a horror movie set? To give you a visual, the decorations are a hallway lined with 45 red trees.

Twitter users are posting memes and jokes, comparing the setup to “Suspiria,” “The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina,” “The Handmaid’s Tale” and “The Shining,” according to Glamour. Nick Jack Pappas posted a meme of the creepy trees topped with white linen caps. He wrote, “Bold choice going with decorations inspired by the Handmaid’s Tale.”

Another Twitter user posted a meme of the twins from “The Shining,” holding hands at the end of the hall, the red trees looming over them eerily.

First Lady Melania Trump, however, thinks that the White House is “sparkling for the Christmas season.” Is it sparkling in the way diamonds sparkle, or “sparkling” in the way fresh blood sparkles? You decide. Read more on Glamour here.
