Every year, Heidi Klum hosts her epic Halloween bash. And every year, Heidi Klum dons the craziest, most bizarre and extraordinary costume.
Klum was 27 years old when she hosted her first famous bash, according to a source. Since 2000, the evolution of her Halloween ensembles has been impressive.
The supermodel’s first ever Halloween costume as a hostess had a S&M vibe to it – patent leather, spikes, a choker and two Pippi Longstockings braids made for an interesting look. Her complexion was pale as a ghost, and she had vibrant fuchsia cheeks and a bold red lippie.
It’s important to note that even before the supermodel started to host her own Halloween parties, she had been a part of the New York City Halloween party scene for a while, according to People.
In 2001, Klum appeared on a horse as Lady Godiva, a legendary noblewoman. Her blonde locks trailed on the floor as she danced around for the camera in a sparkly white bodysuit. According to the source, legend has it that the English noblewoman rode her horse buck naked through town – Heidi was close enough.
Two years later, Klum went all out. She simply glowed from head to toe as a gold alien. The supermodel’s whole body was covered in gold shimmer and her smile revealed a set of gold teeth. In 2010, Heidi stuck to the space theme and dressed as a superhero bot. Heidi described the costume as being “larger than life.” She literally towered over everyone in her stilt-like boots and illuminated the scene with her metallic-purple skin and bright-red robot suit.
We cannot forget 2008, the year Heidi Klum transformed into Goddess Kali. She went all out with turquoise skin, eight arms and a thick chain of skulls around her neck. Klum explained her choice for the costume, “My husband and I were in India last year, so she [my assistant] said, ‘Why don’t you do an Indian goddess? Like a scary Indian goddess?’ And I said ‘OK!'” However, Hindu leaders criticized the costume, saying that it was “denigrating.”
In 2013, she surprised us once more as a 95-year-old version of herself. Klum noted that she “spent a lot of time getting the details right, down to the varicose veins and the eye lenses.” She also revealed that no one recognized her in her fashionable granny get-up – she had to tell people to let her into her own party.
Her granny costume was a stark contrast to her 2015 Jessica Rabbit ensemble, which included face, chest and rear prosthetics – it took a whopping 10 hours to apply.
This year, however, Heidi channeled her inner Princess Fiona. Her boyfriend, Tom Kaulitz, joined in on the fun and dressed as Shrek. The couple arrived at Klum’s annual bash at Lavo in N.Y.C. in a gorgeous white chariot. Prosthetic ears and green skin were most definitely involved. But where’s Donkey?
