John Mayer is publicly praising Taylor Swift’s music. The two famously split in 2010, after dating a little more than one year, and didn’t exactly end on great terms. The breakup prompted Swift to express her feelings later that year, in a song titled, “Dear John.” Swift is known to write most of her songs based on her personal experiences. As a result, we have these amazing songs most of us can’t get out of our head and leave us singing in the shower, the car and everywhere else.

Mayer appears to agree because while performing at the iHeartRadio theatre in Los Angeles recently, he commented back when Swift’s latest collection came up. “I was thinking about reputation,” Mayer reportedly said. “Not the album, but it’s fine. It’s a fine piece of work.”

His comment left many surprised seeing as he slammed her back in 2012, for harshly criticizing her for using their relationship to sell music. “It made me feel terrible,” he told Rolling Stone. “Because I didn’t deserve it. I’m pretty good at taking accountability now, and I never did anything to deserve that. It was a really lousy thing for her to do.”

Some of the lyrics to the song of “Dear John” go like this: “My mother accused me of losing my mind/But I swore I was fine, you paint me a blue sky/And go back and turn it to rain/And I lived in your chess game/But you changed the rules every day/Wondering which version of you I might get on the phone.”

It turns out the two are over the past and have moved on. It’s nice to see Mayer praising her work – artist to artist. These two have since moved on and have found love, and it looks like we can call the past, the past.  Read the full story from CNN here.
