Joe Biden is currently the Democrats top choice for the 2020 Election. However, there are some who doubt his campaign capabilities… including himself. In an interview with “CBS This Morning” News, Joe Biden discussed why he’s waiting until January to make an official decision on the 2020 Campaign. Have his past losses impacted his confidence in running? Do the American people want to vote for someone who isn’t sure on their decision?

During his interview, Joe Biden listed several concerns that he would have IF he were to run for president in 2020. He is not basing his decision to run off the polling data. Instead, he is considering factors such as the impact on his family, especially after the loss of his son, and what he wants to do with the rest of his life. He also is taking his age into consideration. The 75-year-old acknowledges that people will judge him on his vitality. “Can I still run up the steps of Air Force Two? Am I still in good shape? Am I- do I have all my faculties? Am I energetic? I think it’s totally legitimate people ask those questions.”

Despite his protests of age, Biden is still very politically active, campaigning for Democrats in the midterm elections. He worries for America’s values in his interview with Norah O’Donnell. He states, “I think our basic American values are at stake. Decency, honor, giving hate no safe harbor, telling the truth, understanding there’s something bigger than you. It really is under assault… They see Charlottesville and what he says. They see him embracing these dictators around the world attacking our allies. They see in a situation where he talks about he has a policy of literally ripping children from their parents at the border, for God’s sake. I mean, it’s not who we are.” Biden obviously feels very strongly about the future of our country, but is he willing to lead it? And if not Biden, then who?

The Democratic party has a few contenders for the 2020 Presidential Election. One of the potential candidates is former Attorney General Eric Holder. According to CBS News, Eric Holder, 67, believes that the Democrats need to be tougher and disagrees with Michelle Obama’s mantra, “When they go low, we go high.” Holder instead argues that, “When they go low, we kick them.” Michael Avenatti, 47-year-old attorney and cable news staple, is also considering running for the presidency. He too advocates for a tougher Democratic party. Equally brash and politically active on Twitter, Avenatti casts himself as the Democratic answer for Trump. In an interview with Register, he states, “I think there’s a huge appetite within the party for a fighter. I think the party has yearned for a fighter- a fighter for good, if you will- for a significant period of time. And for many, I’m probably seen as that individual.”

How has President Trump responded to the possibility of Biden’s candidacy? He is less than impressed. In an exclusive interview with “CBS Evening News,” Trump states, “Well, I dream, I dream about Biden. That’s a dream. Look, Joe Biden ran three times. He never got more than 1 percent and President Obama took him out of the garbage heap, and everybody was shocked that he did. I’d love to have it be Biden… When he ran two or three times, I don’t think he ever break — broke one. He was at the one or less level, 1 percent or less level.”

With a brazen president such as Trump, will the Democrats choose an equally brash opponent or a more traditional politician? Joe Biden is playing it safe with his decision to run for president, but is that what the people want? In a closing statement, Biden asserts, “Age has given me wisdom.” Read the full story from CBS News here.
