Cardi B has come a long way. The rapper was seated front-row center at Tom Ford’s Runway show and wanted everyone to know. Sitting front row during NY Fashion week is a big honor for anyone who gets the chance, because it represents status.
She later posted an image on Instagram of her seating front row alongside Anna Wintour, Tom Hanks Rita Wilson and ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ star Henry Golding, with the caption, “I CAME A Long F—King WAY!”
She sure has. She wanted everyone to know she earned that exclusive spot and couldn’t be any happier that she got the amazing chance to do so.
“First things first, I spend so much money on Tom Ford sh—t, I deserve to be here,” the rapper told Women’s Wear Daily. “All that goddamn money I spent, it’s about time I’m here.”
She wore a Ford-designed black gown with elbow-length sleeves, oversized earrings and slicked-back hair to the show. Her look was topped off with yet-to-be-released Giuseppe Zanotti for Christian Cowan heels featuring gold Rolex watches instead of straps.
However, not everyone was excited to see the Cardi B sitting in the exclusive spot. The rapper who looked glamourous, is getting backlash for sitting front row, with criticism pouring in stating that she is not worthy of the front row. People can choose to dislike her, but the rapper has had a huge year. With only one full length debut album out, she managed to get two Grammy nominations.
She surpassed Beyoncé in becoming the first woman to have five top 10 singles charts simultaneously on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop songs chart. She became the first solo female MC to top the Billboard Hot 100 and the longest-running No. 1 by a solo female rapper. Her album was streamed over 100 million times on Apple Music, doubling the numbers that Taylor Swift’s ‘Reputation’ album had put on the board. Her list of accomplishments is endless, as she has made history and set many records in just the last six months.
It sure has been her year, and let’s not forget that the year isn’t over. Read the full story on Page Six here.
