Booze at Disneyland was never a thing. Walt Disney always envisioned his park as, “a wholesome, child-friendly experience without the addition of alcohol.” But according to CNN, starting in 2019, California’s Disneyland Resort will begin serving refreshing alcoholic beverages to the public. It’s important to note that the Disneyland in Paris has already been doing so since 1993.

The welcoming of “Star Wars: Galaxy Edge” is what really brought on this new adult feature to the park. Drinks can be enjoyed at the hot new spot, Oga’s Cantina. Walt Disney’s portfolio creative executive, Scott Trowbridge, describes it as a, “notorious local watering hole,” where visitors come to, “unwind, conduct shady business and maybe even encounter a friend — or a foe.” Fans have been waiting for the opening ever since 2015, and now, next year they will be able to experience it.

While some have accepted Disneyland’s decision to serve drinks, others have expressed their criticism of it on social media. One Twitter user boldly reveals that even though they love Disney Parks, they certainly hate alcohol. Another person brought up an interesting point, “Historically Disney Parks have kept alcohol under control but in recent years it’s getting worse. The last thing I want to see is some drunk a**hole stumbling around The Magic Kingdom.”

Oga’s Cantina will be serving up boozy drinks starting next year at California’s theme park. Only time will tell how visitors react to it. Read more about the story on CNN here.
