The polls are in and it seems that American people are on the fence about President Trump’s behavior in the White House and outside of it.
According to USA Today, a poll was conducted of 1,000 registered voters after Trump’s former lawyer, Michael Cohen, had pleaded guilty to “violating campaign finance law and other charges.” Cohen told a federal court that he had paid off two women to silence them ahead of the 2016 election at Trump’s “direction,” while admitting the payments were illegal. The president’s former campaign chairman Paul Manafort was also convicted of tax evasion and financial crimes.
The survey revealed that people are voting in favor of Robert Mueller’s integrity than in Trump’s denials of the collusions with the Russians in the 2016 election. In fact, nearly two-thirds believe that the president should come to an agreement to be interviewed by the special counsel.
One poll user, a political independent, Richard Dean, stressed that, “it’s ludicrous that Trump continues to write the tweets that question Mueller’s integrity.” He also goes on to say that there was indeed Russian meddling and hacking, according to all the information he read.
Back in May 2017, the Justice Department appointed Mueller, a longtime Republican, to oversee the Russia inquiry after Trump fired FBI Director James Comey. President Trump however, has called it a “witch hunt.”
The poll also revealed that 55% of Americans have “a lot or some trust” in the investigation set up by Mueller as being just and truthful. On the other hand, 35% of people entirely trust or partly trust Trump’s rejections of collusion.
A dispatcher and driver, Gregory Bailey, also a faithful Republican, stated that Mueller is “corrupt” and his investigation is “a farce.” Bailey noted that finding something on the Russian collusion should not have to take so long.
Some Americans are willing to be patient with the proceedings of the investigation, 55 percent to be exact. While 40 percent agree with Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani, saying the special counsel should wrap it up within weeks.
The survey has shown how some Americans view Muller’s investigation, whether supporting it or not. Read more about this story on USA Today here.
