Look out world- Veronica Mars is coming to Hulu! While some television goers are jumping for joy, most are scratching their heads and asking one pressing question: Who is Veronica Mars?!

Veronica Mars is an American mystery drama television series written by Rob Thomas and starring Kristen Bell. The original show premiered in 2004 for two seasons on UPN and a third season on The CW. Even with a relatively short television span, the show was estimated to have three million viewers.

According to the Huffington Post, The series gained so much popularity that when Rob Thomas created a Kickstarter to crowd-fund a Veronica Mars film, it not only reached its $2 million goal, it also broke records (Fastest Project to reach $1 million, Fastest Project to reach $2 million, All-time highest-funded project in FILM category, Third highest-funded project in Kickstarter history, Most Project Backers of any project in Kickstarter history). Veronica Mars was last seen in this fan-funded film in 2014. Now she’s back and negotiating a deal with Hulu to revive the series.

With such a popular following, there is a lot at stake for this detective and her new show. Unlike the previous 22-episode series on UPN and the 20-episode series on The CW, the new revival will be a “limited series” with a max of 8 episodes. The new season would strike a different tone than the film, which was critiqued for focusing too much on pleasing the fans. Rob Thomas told E! News, “If we get to do it again… anything that comes from now on, I think, is going to be about a kickass mystery.”

Casting has yet to be announced, but Kristen Bell and Rob Thomas will definitely be in the new show. While Kristen Bell is committed to NBC’s “The Good Place,” filming for the revival will work around her schedule. Thomas is filming the fifth and final season of “iZombie” on The CW but will be free after the show ends. Other members of the original series are rumored to be in the new project as well. Actor Ryan Hansen (Dick Casablancas in Veronica Mars) wrote on Twitter, “I think this one is for real.”

While some viewers are counting down the days until it’s aired, others have never heard of this television series. Are you excited about the revival? Only 23% of people can’t wait to see the show, and 77% of people have no idea who Veronica Mars is. Read this story in depth on Huffpost here.
