‘The Hills’ reboot is officially happening and will be called “The Hills: New Beginnings,” which won’t include Lauren Conrad and Kristin Cavallari. Will you still watch? Scroll down to see the results.
‘The Hills’ is back! The long-awaited reboot was finally confirmed on August 20th in a teaser trailer during the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards. Complete with the 2004 hit-song “Unwritten,” the 30-second clip perfectly captured our early-2000s nostalgia. ‘The Hills’ was an American reality show that aired from 2006 until 2010 that followed young women in their personal and professional lives. A good portion of the previous cast have confirmed their roles in the upcoming series, but two of the main characters (Lauren Conrad and Kristin Cavallari) will not be returning. Without these key characters, is it still worth it to watch?
Titled ‘The Hills: New Beginnings,’ this reboot has a majority of the original cast: Stephanie Pratt, her brother Spencer with his wife Heidi, Audrina Patridge, Frankie Delgado, Justin Bobby, Whitney Port, and Jason Wahler with his wife Ashley. The show will also feature the new babies: Delilah Wahler (Jason and Ashley’s daughter), Kirra Patridge (Audrina’s daughter), and Gunner Pratt (Spencer and Heidi’s son). According to The Hollywood Reporter, Brody Jenner is even in on the reboot.
With such a huge group of returning cast members, it’s a wonder why Lauren Conrad and Kristin Cavallari didn’t decide to join in. According to a PEOPLE source, Conrad has moved on from reality TV and is focusing on managing her Kohl’s fashion line, her website, and a nonprofit. While Kristin is excited for her old cast members, she is committed to her own show ‘Very Cavallari’ and is unable to break her contract. Even with all the returning cast members, who will replace Lauren Conrad and Kristin Cavallari?
MTV will be adding in several younger characters to create the “new generation” on the show. One confirmed member of this new cast will be Kyle Massey, star from ‘Cory in the House’ and ‘That’s So Raven.’ According to one source, “They will show the old cast living their lives from day to day and then the younger cast members going out and causing drama.”
Even without LC and Cavallari, the show is taking definite steps to ensure an epically packed season. With the new focus being on family life rather than the lives of rising career women, the show seems to have dramatically evolved from the original series. The show may still contain a good portion of the old cast, but rest assured, this will not be the same plot. Read this story in depth on Cosmopolitan here.
