Comedian Bill Maher apparently hates President Trump so much, he is hoping for the worst for America. On his HBO show ‘Real Time,’ he stated that he has no problem with the country sinking into an economic recession, if it meant the end for President Trump.
“By the way, I’m hoping for it because one way to get rid of Trump is a crashing economy. So please, bring on the recession,” Maher said on his show. “Sorry if that hurts people but it’s either root for a recession or you lose your democracy….I feel like the bottom have to fall out at some point.”
Apparently, many people, including people who also dislike the president, disagree. Twitter users swiftly reacted to Maher’s comments. Many let him know that given his net worth of $100 million and reported salary of $10 million, he would not be affected. Others were stunned and appalled with his comment.
Former Attorney and radio host Dean Obeidallah, called his comment his “cruelest and most ill-informed comment yet.”
Maher has been open about his hostility toward the president.
