Should President Trump be More “Presidential?”

Should President Trump be More “Presidential?”

The Presidency doesn’t exactly come with a handbook, as every President who has ever held office has had their share of love and hate. Even family members that are related to the President in office don’t always see eye to eye. Ronald Reagan’s daughter, Patty Davis, was one who publicly criticized and didn’t agree with her father. She protested against some of her father’s polices, such as the buildup of nuclear weapons, when her father held office. She recently admitted that her action hurt him. Luckily, she was able to express her regrets and intentions before he passed.

According to the New York Post, on the anniversary of her father’s June 5, 2004, death, Davis wrote a letter to the Washington Post to criticize another president. She said her father, Reagan, would be “pretty horrified at where we’ve come to.”

“He would be appalled and heartbroken. At a Congress that refuses to stand up to a president who not only seems ignorant of the Constitution but who also attempts at every turn to dismantle and mock our system of checks and balances,” she added, although she never mentions President Trump by name.

It is hard for any president to ever have the love and support from everyone. The divide that comes with every presidency also leaves many agreeing with Davis. President Trump was not a politician before he took the oval office and marches to the beat of his own drum, which leaves some skeptical about his decisions. Do you wish he was more “Presidential?” 19% of people say duh, but oh well, while 91% think he is just fine. Read the full story on the New York Post here.
