Netflix is taking over. The nation is buzzing after one of the most popular families in the U.S. signed a contract with the network to product scripted series, documentaries, and features. Who is this power family? From the Oval Office to Netflix, the Obamas seem to have done it all.
However, not everyone is happy with this partnership. Many Netflix subscribers have taken to Twitter, threating to cancel their subscriptions and complaining that the network is getting “too political.”
Fortune reports that Barack said in a statement that, “We hope to cultivate and curate the talented, inspiring, creative voices who are able to promote greater empathy and understanding between peoples, and help them share their stories with the entire world.”
Ted Sarandos, content chief of Netflix, said the Obamas are “uniquely positioned to discover and highlight stories of people who make a difference in their communities and strive to change the world for the better.”
