Royal weddings have been known to have such extravagant, beautiful and expensive dresses fit for a royal princess. Along with the dress, we all want to know the designer behind the piece of artwork. As Meghan Markle is about to walk down the aisle with millions and millions of people watching, the dress importance level is raised. It allows one chosen designer the chance to create a masterpiece that will be seen and loved by so many. Royal wedding dresses are so monumental, they even receive their own Wikipedia page.
British bookies have taken the dress anticipation to the next level and have been taking bets on which designer Markle will be wearing. The top contender is Ralph & Russo. Ralph and Russo are a London-based company led by Tamara Ralph and Michael Russo. They designed Meghan Markle’s sheer and beaded gown that she wore for her engagement photos.
According to USA Today, “Celebrities favor the brand with a whimsical and high-glam aesthetic. Elizabeth Banks, Sofia Vergara, Heidi Klum, Alessandra Ambrosio and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley all wore Ralph & Russo designs to this year’s Vanity Fair Oscar Party.”
The second highest contender is Erdem. Erdem is led by Canadian-born designer Erdem Moralıoğlu. Both Markle and Duchess Kate have worn pieces from Erdem.
If Meghan Markle chooses Ralph and Russo, her wedding dress could have a price tag of up to $135,000, according to USA Today. Princess Diana wore a dress by designer David and Elizabeth Emanuel, with a price tag of close to $13,000.
