Rudy Giuliani, the President’s new chief counsel in the Russia investigation, says that his client, President Trump, may agree to an interview with Special Counsel Robert Mueller. Giuliani, who is the former mayor and former federal prosecutor, says that if Trump agrees to the interview, it should be limited to a few hours and focus only on Russian Tampering in the 2016 election.
According to the Huffington Post, Giuliani suggested that two questions that may be appropriate are: “Was there some agreement with the Russians? Was there any meeting of Trump with the Russians?” He will keep an eye out during the interview for any unwanted questions, such as the $130, 000 hush payment by longtime Trump attorney Michael Cohen to a porn star, who allegedly had a sexual encounter with the President. Another unwanted question will be the unexpected firing of former FBI Director James Comey.
Giuliani said they are trying to figure out if it is a good idea for Trump to volunteer for the interview. “Are they trying to trap him?” Giuliani asked. He said Trump’s legal team is expected to decide in two or three weeks. “We want to get it over with,” he said.
Do you think this interview is a good idea? 81% agree that it is a trap, while only 19% think it’s a way to control the narrative. Regardless, the interview could help or hurt the upcoming re-election. Read more about this story on the Huffington Post here.
